Let's Improve Lives by Creating New Solutions

After being inspired by patients who struggled without access to care, I began brainstorming solutions and working toward improving our healthcare system. Check out some of my ideas below. More to come! If you are inspired to join me in improving the lives of those around us, contact me on the Contact page.

Group Care Visits

One part of the solution to increasing healthcare accessibility is seeing a greater number of patients in the same amount of time while providing the same or better quality of care. Group therapy in psychiatry offers several benefits for mental health conditions. There is potential to adopt this model for several other conditions. In fact, some clinics already see patients with diabetes in group settings, and still other clinics provide group prenatal care visits for pregnant women. Healthcare systems could benefit from studying the group care model for more conditions. I wrote a resolution encouraging physicians to explore this model for various health conditions, and it was passed by the Tennessee Medical Association House of Delegates. You can find the resolution linked below as well as a demo of a platform I created to provide group care virtually for those who cannot readily access group care in person.

Virtual Group Care Healthcare

Applying the above group care model to a virtual setting, we can reach even more patients, especially those who live far from care sites. Thus, I created a demo of a virtual healthcare platform that could potentially address some gaps in care for those who cannot readily access group care in person. The platform demo is linked below.

When I started clinical rotations in medical school, I began identifying some challenges and areas for improvement. Among other observations I made, the electronic medical records (EMRs) seemed unwieldy to many healthcare providers. I provided a resource to help users of the Oracle Cerner PowerChart EMR navigate the system more efficiently. This, and likely other resources to be developed throughout my career, can be found at the link below to my site, HealthcareSolver.org.
